The Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) conducted a planning and聽 budgeting workshop on October 6-7, 2021, via Zoom.

Participated in by twenty-six (26) female and eight (8) male college/campus and unit GAD聽 coordinators and alternates, the workshop aimed to enhance their knowledge and skills in聽 preparing their respective GAD plan and budget for 2022. It also targeted to identify programs,聽 projects, and activities that will address gender issues in the university and adopted communities,聽 as well as to enhance their awareness on the value of the GAD program as a tool in developing聽 a highly gender responsive university.

The first day of the workshop focused on explaining the mandates that determine the聽 importance of planning and budgeting for GADRC. Ms. Raecel A. Estebat, the speaker, gave a聽 walk-through by discussing the definition and nature of GAD planning and budgeting and gave聽 emphasis on the three main classifications of the programs and activities, namely: the client

focused, organizational-focused, and attributed projects and programs.

Meanwhile, the second day started with a recap of what happened during the first day by聽 Mr. Ariel Rivera, GAD coordinator of Naic Campus. After the recap, the participants presented聽 their own plan and budget for the year 2022 in their respective college/campus and unit. Each聽 was given time to present their output and Ms. Raecel A. Estebat assisted in enhancing their聽 plans and budget.

To wrap up the success of the workshop, Ms. Lolita G. Herrera, Director of Finance聽 Management Office, delivered the closing remarks by reminding the participants that GAD聽 planning should be integrated in the regular activities of the agencies which shall be at least five聽 percent (5%) of their total budget. She also discussed the essential elements that must be present聽 in creating a plan and budget which served as a challenge for the participants 鈥 creation/strengthening of the GAD focal system, clear understanding and appreciation of GAD,聽 conduct of gender audit, institutionalized GAD database/ Sex aggregation data.
